A Seven Mile Bridge
Christian community helps carry the weight of life, allowing believers to go farther together than they could alone.
Completed in 1982, Seven Mile Bridge connects the Middle Keys to the Lower Keys and spans a distance of 6.76 miles over water. This engineering marvel is used by hundreds of cars and trucks to travel between the islands, it carries clean water and fiber optic cables south to the lower keys, and once a year it's even the venue of the Seven Mile Bridge Run.
At one time, this structure was the longest continuous concrete bridge in the world.
The reason this bridge can span such a long stretch is the hundreds of columns providing support as each of the columns absorbs a portion of the heavy load generated by traffic and the bridge's own concrete segments.
Today's passage in Galatians is a reminder that you are to do something similar for your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Life brings a heavy load on all of our shoulders, and part of being in a community of believers is helping shoulder each other's burdens.
There is an ancient African proverb that says, "If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together."
If you are to go far in your journey of faith, you want to travel on the long journey together with others, so you can each help carry each other's loads.

Prayer Challenge
Ask God to show you someone whose burden you can help carry this week. And if you are weighed down with your own load, ask Him to bring someone into your life to help you carry it.

Questions for Thought
- How can you help ease the burden of one of your friends this week?
- What does it mean to "obey the law of Christ"? (For a hint, see Mark 12:28-31.)
