Bear enduring fruit
A life rooted in Christ can bear fruit that lasts beyond our years, beginning with faithful purpose today.
The countryside in many parts of the Mediterranean is covered in rows and rows of short, scrubby looking trees. These squatty, bushy trees are olive trees, and despite their short stature, many are hundreds of years old.
Some olive trees in the region are believed to be over 2,000 years old!
What's even more impressive is that even after hundreds or thousands of years, they can still produce fruit. That's a lot of olive oil!
It's not hard to imagine Jesus looking at one of these ancient trees as He spoke the words recorded in John 15:16. A healthy tree bears fruit, season after season. And as Jesus explained, that is your purpose as well.
When you follow Christ and live with purpose, your life can bear fruit that far outlives you. Just think of the enduring influence of people in your own life who are no longer with you.
Your life in Christ can leave an enduring legacy after you are in Heaven. But your legacy doesn't have to start only when you are gone. Jesus wants you to bear fruit today.
