How you can have hope and joy no matter what

Hope and joy can endure unfair seasons when believers take refuge in God instead of their circumstances.

Psalm 5:11

The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright built a house for industrialist Hibbard Johnson in 1937. One rainy evening, Johnson was entertaining distinguished guests when the roof began to leak. The water seeped through directly above Johnson himself, dripping steadily onto his head.

Annoyed, Johnson immediately called Wright. "Frank," he said, "you built this beautiful house for me and we enjoy it very much. But I've told you the roof leaks, and right now it's leaking right on top of my head!"

The world-renowned architect lightheartedly replied, "Well, Hib, why don't you just move your chair?"

Quite often, we become caught in unfavorable circumstances in life. Yet some people, instead of taking the initiative to do something about it, sulk and feel sorry for themselves. But in Christ, you have the power to experience God's hope and joy even in unfavorable situations.

Maybe today you feel like life has dealt you an unfair hand, and you're just waiting for things to get better. But whether you stay there or not, you can choose to experience God's deliverance in times of trouble. Don't let your circumstances hinder the hope and joy you have in Christ!
