Leave a legacy of peace
Christ's peace steadies us in trouble and becomes a legacy that calms and blesses those closest to us.
You've certainly been around someone who just exudes calm, even in stressful situations. They're steady, seemingly unflappable, cool as a cucumber. And when the pressure is on, that kind of peace is contagious, helping others around feel more at ease too.
Throughout His earthly life, Jesus was a man of great peace, even in the midst of hungry crowds, stormy seas, even harassment and persecution from the government. So when He was preparing His disciples for His death, He wanted to calm them and reassure them that this same peace He carried in Him would be given to them.
The peace of Christ is not like peace the world has to offer, which waxes and wanes depending on circumstances. His peace is one that endures, because it is grounded not in things of this world, but in God… so it is unshakeable.
As a follower of Christ, you not only have full access to this same peace, but you can pass it down to others as well. When you trust and hope in God, your heart is not troubled or afraid, no matter your situation. This doesn't mean you're never afraid or worried. It means that when you are, you look to God for peace and comfort.
And when you do that, you'll help calm those closest to you, and they'll remember you for your peaceful nature. Through your responses to trials and challenges you can build a legacy of Christ-centered peace.
