Daily Living Devotional
Trusting God as your provider
This devotional offers a polished reflection on trusting your Father as the giver of true blessing, inviting steady faith, humble obedience, and renewed hope in God.
Scripture Reference: Matthew 7:11
Body Copy:
A young boy named Billy went to the local store with his mother. When it came time to check out, the shop owner looked down at the boy and passed him a large jar of suckers. He told him, "Go ahead, son. Take a handful of these with you."
Billy held back timidly. So the shop owner reached in the jar, pulled out a big handful of suckers, and set them on the counter in front of the boy. "Here you go!" he said.
The mother couldn't help but wonder why the boy had been so shy in the store. He had always been outgoing with adults - so it was quite uncharacteristic of him. So she asked, "Billy, what's wrong? Why didn't you take the suckers the man was offering you?"
Billy replied, "Because his hands were much bigger than mine."
So many people today live by the philosophy, "Take as much as I can get." But the truth is that God's hands are much bigger than ours - and He has the ability to give us so much more than we could ever get for ourselves.
Instead of living for "stuff", trust in God to give you everything you need - and more!

Questions for Thought
- Why do you think people tend to trust in themselves to provide more than God?
- How have you seen God provide in your life beyond what you could do for yourself?
