Your greatest encouragement in hard times

A Scripture-shaped reflection on your greatest encouragement in hard times, encouraging believers to give your life over to God today, trusting that no matter your.

2 Corinthians 4:18

When Pope Julius I authorized December 25 to be celebrated as the birthday of Jesus in A.D. 353, who would've ever thought it would become what it is today? And when Professor Charles Follen lit candles on the first Christmas tree in America in 1832, who would've ever thought that the decorations would become as elaborate as they are today?

We're a long way removed from 1832, longer from 353, and longer still from that dark night brightened by a special star when Jesus the King was born. Yet as we approach Christmas Day once again, we have another opportunity to pause to consider again the event of Christmas and the Person whose birth we celebrate.

So much uncertainty hung in the air on that night so long ago. Would Mary survive childbirth? What would this child be like as He grew? Would He ever be respected when most thought He was illegitimate?

But as we look back on that day, it's clear God was working everything out perfectly. Jesus the Christ was born in a stable, attended by shepherds, and worshipped by wise men; yet an immediate attempt was made to take His life.

Yet through these strange circumstances, God's power was shown as true. And no matter the situations you face today, God's power can be show true in your life, too, if you'll trust Him fully. He took care of His boy; and He'll take care of you!
